Closing days for Youth Information over Christmas

Dun Laoghaire Youth Information will be closed from Monday 19th December and re-open on Monday 9th January @ 9.30am.

Dun Laoghaire Christmas Festival 2011

The Dun Laoghaire Christmas Festival is on from the 9th December - 8th January.

The fireworks display is Saturday 10th December and will be on at the harbour also Santa will be arriving.  There are Christmas markets and an Ice Rink this year.

So come and enjoy the festivities!!

“The Beat ” Youth Cafe now open Friday Nights

“The Beat” Youth Cafe will be open every Friday from 7pm - 10pm, starting this Friday 25th November!!!

Cafe is located off Eblana Avenue, Dun Laoghaire (laneway beside Credit Union)

It is for 15 - 18yrs and entry is 2 euro.  Everyone welcome.  Each Friday will have a different theme with music, games and Open Mike Night.

One World Week 12th – 20th November 2011

One World Week take place from 12th - 20th November 2011. 

During One World Week, young people get an opportunity to learn about global issues that affect their lives and how to take action to bring about change. It allows young people to reflect on what type of world we live in and what type of world we would like to live in. 

The theme for this year its a  ‘A Rich Man’s World?’. The theme is quite broad but involves issues to do with how our action effect people in other parts of the world, explore fair trade, sanctions, unequal power facing the world’s poorest, what it means to be in depth, be a Taoiseach for a day…… Dun Laoghaire Youth Information Centre has many resources on Global Justice that can be borrowed including   ‘A Rich Man’s World?’, Framing Our World, Drinking from the Well, The Great Supermarket Challenge.

Open Day for Dun Laoghaire Youth Cafe

“The Beat” Youth Cafe is having it’s Open Day on Saturday 15th October from 3pm - 10pm.  There will be live bands and open mike, free makeovers, mural painting, art workshops X Box challenges etc.

There will also be free smoothies, tea or coffee and snacks.

Young people aged 15-18yrs are all welcome.

The Cafe is located on Eblana Avenue ( laneway beside the Credit Union)

Daily & weekly rates available from 20 per day to 65 / 80 per week.  Some spaces still available for August 2011.

Teen gym programme for 11-17 year olds available in

Loughlinstown -  Meadowbrook – Monkstown.

Cost is €4.00 or €35.00 for 10 sessions.

All sessions are timetabled.

Summer of Heritage

The ‘Summer of Heritage’ programme will be run throughout the summer, from Monday 27th June until Sunday 4th September.  This event is free and comprises a range of events for adults and children. 

The programme will be offically launched at the Martello Tower exhibition at the County hall on Thursday 30th June.

The Metals Family Cycle on Saturday 25th June

As part of Ireland’s Annual National Bike week a family leisurely cycle will take place along the Metals in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday 25th June at 2pm.
