Changes in Budget 2011 !!

  • Student Grants are reduced by 4%.  It is expected that this reduction will apply to all existing and new grant holders from January 2011
  • A new eligibility category is added to the family income limits for exemption from 50% of the new Student Contribution
  • The qualifying distance between home and college for the non-adjacent rate of grant is increased from 24km to 45km
  • Mature students will no longer be automatically eligible for the non-adjacent rate of grant

Dun Laoghaire Youth Information will have an information point on Going to College 2011 in Bloomfields Shopping Centre on Monday 17th January and Tuesday 18th January.

National LGBT Helpline

Ireland’s first National LGBT Helpline was launched on Monday 22nd November 2010.  The new LGBT Helpline is a national initiative made up of the 8 regional LGBT helplines.

Christmas Fireworks and Parade

This year the Christmas Fireworks and Parade will be held on Saturday 20th November.

The Parade departs from the Peoples Park @5.15pm.  The Fireworks display and switching on of lights @ 6pm at the Harbour Plaza.

Green Card Lottery for USA VISA out now

The annual Diversity Visa or ‘Green Card’ Lottery, which offers the opportunity to ‘win’ a visa for the U.S.A., opens for applications TODAY Tuesday 5th October.  This year, the application period is only open for one month, closing on Wednesday 3rd November.

Student Travelcard 2010/11

The new Student Travelcard will be available from Wednesday 1st September.  Dun Laoghaire Youth Information Centre is the local agent - just call in with your student card and a completed application form and €15.  There is no need to bring a passport photo as we will do it by webcam.
