THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN
The Office of the Ombudsman is a statutory office. The main function is to investigate complaints from members of the public who feel that they have been unfairly treated by certain public services. These services are government departments and offices, local authorities, health boards and An Post.
Any individual may complain to the Ombudsman. Generally speaking you must have exhausted the existing complaints machinery.
Private companies and some public services are not currently within the remit of the Ombudsman. The Office of the Ombudsman can be contacted at:

Ombudsman for Children
The Ombudsman for Children works for all children and young people under 18 living in the Ireland and her job is to make sure that the government and other people who make decisions about young people really think about what is best for young people.
