Get Involved

Volunteering is a great way to
  • to make a difference in your local area
  • learn and develop new skills
  • feel good about yourself
  • get valuable work experience
  • do something you love
  • make a difference to someone or something
  • have fun & meet new friends

Where do you start?

It all depends on your age and what type of volunteering you have in mind. Check out http://www.volunteerdlr.ie/ to see if there are any volunteer opportunities that you may be interested in. Dun Laoghaire Youth Information have also published a handy guide to volunteering

Get Involved: 15 - 18s

While many volunteer opportunities don’t require much experience they do require you to be reliable, have an interest in the cause and a willingness to get involved.

There is currently no standard age at which youth in Ireland can volunteer. The decision is left to the community/voluntary organisation to evaluate the appropriate age for a youth to volunteer. Many community/voluntary organisations will only accept volunteers who are at least 16 or 18 years of age.
